Winner Medical Group Inc., a leading manufacturer and the largest exporter by volume in the Chinese medical dressing industry (medical and wound care products), has received a U.S. patent for the production of PurCotton products. Jianquan Li, CEO of Winner Medical, remarked, “We are delighted to receive notice that our unique and innovative PurCotton production method has been issued an U.S. patent. We believe the patent will build our customers’ confidence in our products and bolster the sales and marketing efforts in the United States.” Specifically the patent covers a method for producing spunlace nonwoven cloth, a method for producing spunlace nonwoven cloth with an X-ray detectable element and a spunlace nonwoven cloth with X-ray detectable element. As of July 2008, Winner Medical has been granted patents for its PurCotton production method in the U.S., China, Singapore, and Russia. The patent application is also pending in other regions such as Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. Mr. Li, the inventor of the patented PurCotton production method, has entered into a licensing agreement with Winner Medical, pursuant to which Mr. Li granted Winner Medical the rights for the use of his patent on a royalty-free basis. PurCotton products combine the superior characteristics of both natural cotton and materials made using nonwoven technology. It has many advantages over both woven cotton and synthetic nonwoven fabric, as it is high quality, natural, safe, strong, durable, healthy and environmentally-friendly. Winner Medical’s patented manufacturing process enables it to produce PurCotton at a lower cost than the woven cotton products, allowing it to offer customers a lower price. Winner Medical sells PurCotton products primarily in raw material jumble roll form primarily to the consumer hygiene market. Between April 1, 2008 and June, 30, 2008, Winner Medical sold approximately 60 tons of PurCotton to manufacturers and distributors in Japan, China, the U.S., Korea and Europe to be made into products such as cosmetic products, disposable diapers and feminine hygiene products.
